Manly Village Pizzeria & Ristorante

Manly Village Pizzeria & Ristorante

Now they know how to run a restaurant!!!
- food 6 out of 5
- service 6 out of 5
- value for money 5 out of 5

I would class myself as a foodie (A liker of food :p), so I have been around a few eating establishments in my time. . .

I have been here a few times, well maybe lots of times  . . . and I keep coming back . . . is it the great ambiance? . . . is it the fabulous food? . . . is it the friendly but not over the top staff?

Well it’s probably all of the above. When I first ate there, the pizza was very good, not at all like your take away pizzas . . . then there was life beyond the pizzas . . . the Italian Salad, WOW, now that has to be the best salad I have ever tasted . . .

And then there was the Italian ice cream, again, very, very nice.

The staff are really friendly and attentive.

The Italian owner/cook (Amedeo)  . . . he is an exceptional cook and he comes out for a chat from time to time when he is not too busy creating another foodies delight. Amedeo makes every gourmet's delight from the start. Everything tit bit is fresh and made with absolute love.

Amedeo learned his craft from his homeland in Italy, in fact from the Tuscany region . . . it's true Tuscany style food. In other words, the food hasn't been Australianised to our taste buds.

Tim, the owner/manager, just knows how to make people feel at home, his staff including Ella and Katherine make you feel like you are the only people eating at their restaurant.

Tim and Amedeo - owners of Manly Village Pizzeria & Ristorante
The menu is very good, not too many things to choose from, just right, pasta dishes, Antipasto, Salads, Chicken, Veal, Seafood, Specials of the day  . . . and it all tastes, well what can I say, the best . . .
Amedeo, Tim and their staff know what good customer service is all about.
I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who is into good eating.

The Kings Speech

What an absolutely fantastic movie!!!
For me a 4 1/2 out of 5

This movie is a must see . . . stars Geoffrey Rush, a local from Everton Park, Brisbane, for those who don't know where Brisbane is, it's in Australia :). His claim to fame was the movie “Shine” based on the life of pianist David Helfgott.

Anyway I am getting off the track here . . . The King’s Speech is a story about Berty (who later became King George VI).

Berty is played by Colin Firth (from the very powerful movie "A Single Man", and he does a fantastic job playing the part in The Kings Speech!

Berty has a very bad speech impediment, this is especially bad when he does public speaking.

Bertys wife (later to become known to us all as the Queen’s Mother, you know the one who always smiles), anyway Berty’s wife (actor Helena Bonham Carter) makes an appointment with Lionel Logue (Geoffrey Rush) a commoner who is an Australian speech therapist living in London.

And the story goes on from there . . .

There are some really great interactions between Berty, Lionel and Queen Elizabeth . . . a warm, realistic, sometimes hilarious and deeply moving story.

The photography is great, nice lighting, great angles and generally well done (not the way I like my steaks)

The movie also gives some insight into Royal life, with a child Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Margaret.

The movie also gives some insight into the abdication of Berty’s brother because of his love for Mrs Simpson.

Go and see it . . . and let me know what you think.
